The Problem With Fast Laptop Computers
If you’re shopping for a fast laptop computer, there are a few considerations that you might want to keep in mind. What makes a fast laptop? Vaguely speaking, fast laptops can get things done quicker than others’. Technically speaking, a computer with a higher processor speed, more RAM and a higher RPM hard drive will be faster than the average computer. But there’s a catch. A few actually. 1) A fast laptop will consume more power meaning that the battery’s life will be shorter (depending on the chip. That’s where Centrino and Intel Core Duo play a role). If you use your computer on the road or away from a power source, you will have to make sure that you have a good action plan when it runs out of juice. 2) A fast laptop will get hot, hot, hot, in the physical sense. I have friends who brag about the speed of their laptops but they cannot even put them on their laps because they get so hot! I even remember one guy over the Internet who literally made an omelet from his fast but blazing notebook! 3) A fast laptop computer will be more expensive. This is pretty obvious as the more advanced technology a notebook has, the more it costs. It’s not very unusual for a fast laptop to be at least $500 more expensive than the average model in the same line. 4) Just when you think that you have found the fastest notebook on the block, the next day, a faster one will come to market. The computer field is such a fast moving (intended pun) field that regardless of how yours fares today, tomorrow it will be a tortoise compared to the new generations’. Getting a faster laptop comes with a price. But for the amount of work that can be done quicker, it’s worth the costs for many of us. Just be careful about the heat issues! Previous:
