Apple Laptops Reviews:
MacBook & MacBook Pro Notebooks Shopping Tips and Finder

In early 2006, Apple laptops were given a big makeover. Out were the PowerBook G4 and iBook G4 series and in were the MacBook Pro and MacBook series. This model name change was a statement that Mac laptop computers had reached an new era that required new naming.

Today’s Apple laptops are powered by Intel Core Duo processor, which in plain English means that now they’re able to run faster and perform more than the previous generation’s processor. There are essential two models available: The MacBook and MacBook Pro series

Apple MacBook Laptops

The Apple MacBook laptop computer line was first unveiled in May 2006 at the excitement of Mac supporters worldwide. Physically, it looks pretty much like it’s ancestor the iBook G4 line. The only differences are the addition of a built-in iSight, Apple’s webcam and the barely noticeable keyboard change.

13,3” MacBook laptops are still for the average computer users who do not require a lot of processing power and speed to complete their daily tasks. I would say that if you use your computer to check email, write word reports, surf the net, play music, watch movies and play basic games, this is the shopping option to consider, as it’s the best value for money.

The MacBook Apple laptops are available in two distinct options: The White and the Black.

White MacBookBlack MacBook

Beside the obvious color difference, the processing power of those two 13” Apple laptops is different. The Black one is slightly more powerful than the White from the word on the street, it has replaced the 12” PowerBook G4 which has sadly been discontinued.

You can see the full specifications and tech features of these Apple laptops at the manufacturer/seller’s site. They are upgraded so constantly that keeping in touch becomes cumbersome and beside, they present them much better than I possibly could with my limited graphic skills.

Apple MacBook Pro Laptops

The Apple MacBook Pro laptop computer line is the replacement of the PowerBook G4, Mac’s high-end notebook line. Physically, they also look alike albeit the iSight integration.

Macbook ProThe MacBook Pro Apple laptops are available in three configurations: two 15.4” models (different in processing power) and one 17” (different in size and processing power). You’ll notice that there’s no 12” version. That was the piece of news that upset me the most as I really liked the look and size of that Mac laptop which now is defunct and only available as a PowerBook G4.

The MacBook Pro line is the choice of professionals in the multimedia industries or users who just appreciate speed and power. Since they’re 15.4” sized, they are still portable but not very much. The 17” is definitely a drag to carry around and all the best of luck to you if you have to move it around everyday.

Like mentioned earlier, I will not go into the technical details of these Apple laptops as you can see them neatly presented at Apple.com, where you will also be able to configure them for your purchase.

Apple laptops are still the choice of millions who appreciate a good experience doing their daily computing tasks. They’re still are slick, sexy and will get you attention in the sea of the competing brands. Like I said a few years ago, if you want to look different and want a laptop computer that you can rely on for years to come, there’s no better bet today.

Apple Laptop and Notebook Computers

Apple Laptop and Notebook Computers

Last Updated Jan. 15, 2010

The ascent of Apple’s sleek and stylish notebook is one of the greatest comeback stories in modern computing. Ten years ago, nobody would’ve guessed that Apple and their Mac OS would be mounting a successful and highly-persuasive campaign against the PC, but they’ve done just that. Apple is again among the dominant tech companies today.

Thanks to an emphasis on style, a preoccupation with intuitive features and smart, well-designed interfaces, the Apple MacBook and MacBook Pro are a common sight these days. They still account for only a modest percentage of all laptops sold but are hugely popular among those in the creative fields. Such beauty does not come for free, however, and consumers will pay somewhat of a premium for these gorgeous notebooks. But as those who own them will tell you, it’s a small price to pay for peace of mind and pleasurable computing.

Apple MacBook Pro

macbook pro jan10The MacBook Pro is the hardcore Apple lovers dream, and is grand enough to make even the staunchest PC-loyalist weak in the knees. Available in 13, 15 and 17-inch models, the MacBook Pro is a unibody titanium work of art. It’s supercharged with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor (up to 2.8 GHz standard in the high-end 17-inch model), a battery life of up to 8 hours, generous hard drive (up to 500 GB in the current models) and 4GB RAM. With Snow Leopard, the latest iteration of Apple OS X, this really is a dream to use. The downside, as we’ve mentioned, is the price. The basic (though still very powerful) 13-inch model runs about $1,199, while the standard 17-inch goes for $2,499–and even that price can go up after customization.

A word to the wise: At the time of writing (mid-January 2010), the current lineup of MacBook Pro models has gone nearly six months without an upgrade. For the past several years, Apple has refreshed their lineups every six months like clockwork with better components for the same price as the old models. If you’re planning to buy a MacBook Pro, we advise that you hold off until Apple’s next unveiling on January 27th.

Apple MacBook

macbook jan 10If you’re looking for something more modest, try the MacBook. This 4.7 pound notebook comes with a 13-inch LED-backlit display (bright, yet energy efficient) in a polycarbonate unibody package. Just because it’s small doesn’t mean that it’s lacking in the power department, as it is equipped with a 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2 GB of RAM, a 250 GB hard drive, and a built-in 7-hour battery. It also features a built-in webcam for easy self-portraits and web video. This is the laptop for people who want the Apple design and reliability, but don’t need all the power of the MacBook Pro.

Apple MacBook Air

macbook air
Apple’s ultra-portable thin-and-light model is the MacBook Air. Less than an inch thick (and as thin as 0.16 inches at its skinniest point) and weighing in at just 3 pounds, this sleek 13-inch machine is as close as Apple comes to making a true netbook. To achieve such a sexy design, Apple eliminates a disk drive and includes just three ports — USB 2.0, audio out, and a Mini DV jack for connection to an external display. $1,499 buys a 1.86 GHz model with 2 GB RAM and a 120 GB hard drive; $1,799 for 2.13 GHz and a 128 GB solid state drive. This model is not without its problems: it’s obviously very fragile, and it’s been known to run very, very hot, making it difficult to use as an actual “lap” top. The MacBook Air appeals to a niche audience of on-the-go, image-conscious writers, for sure.

Tablet Rumors

Apple is strongly rumored to be releasing a tablet computer in the Spring of 2010. We think there’s more than enough circumstantial evidence to prove that it’s on the way–most notably a cease-and-desist letter to Gawker Media in mid-January that more-or-less acknowledged its existence. We know that it will feature a 10.1-inch multi-touch screen, but most of the other details are still up in the air. One insider says it’s like an “iPhone on steroids.” Apple has a major announcement lined up for January 27th, so we should know in a few short weeks. Update: The iPad is here. Check out our first reactions here.
